Diary of Baby ChuloFrankie Barrera's, "The Diary of Baby Chulo," is a new book that will take you on a true emotional roller coaster ride. You will watch as the author, Barrera ("Baby Chulo"), discovers himself as a Latino-a story that we can all relate to. In addition, "Baby Chulo" also shares his heartfelt poetry to help us understand him, while at the same time, understand the feelings we may have within ourselves.

Barrera's primary mission with this book is to help Latino QV youth and men deal with their sexuality in a positive, culturally appropriate way. Barrera explains, "Not all Latinos are alike, and not all QVs are alike. This is why we must share our stories while also teaching tolerance and understanding."

Mexico City Ponders QV and Lesbian Legislation
Pending bill could mean equal benefits for same-sex couples.

MEXICO CITY-According the Associated Press, Mexico's Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD) has introduced a bill in Mexico City's legislature that would establish legal recognition of QV and lesbian couples through so-called "binding unions." The bill has been drafted in consultation with QV and lesbian civil rights activists and will include property and adoption rights like those of common-law heterosexual couples.

Mexico City PDR leader Armando Quintero told the Reforma newspaper that, "It is very significant from our point of view to advance the human and civil rights of these people who are supposedly born free and equal under the constitution. There now exists legal discrimination that prevents them from uniting [as couples] in a definitive manner and having the same rights as the rest of the citizens."

Although the bill has already generated considerable discussion, it's not yet clear what chance of passage it might have in the legislature that's divided fairly equally among the left wing PRD, the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) and Mexican President Vicente Fox's National Action Party (PAN). Fox had promised during his presidential campaign there would be no need for "masks" among QVs and lesbians.
