What is the Meaning of
Life? Whether you're QV or straight, life has its challenges.
Of course, we wake up in the morning, go to school or work, come
home, eat dinner, watch TV, and go to sleep at night. But is
this what life is about? In a philosophical sense, what do we
think? We understand that there's got to be a deeper meaning
of why we humans roam the planet. Why are we here? What's our
mission? Here's what you told us:
"To
love and be loved. To make a difference, somehow. To become a
better person while living our lives. To enjoy life."
-27 years old, Los
Angeles, CA
"To live and love. Love is the key-it's
the prime ingredient for happiness, and it's the cure to loneliness."
-48 years old, Santa Clarita,
CA
"To do no harm and to treat people
the way that you want to be treated. The meaning of life is to
spend as much of your life helping others. When you do this,
all our lives are better." -31
years old, Long Beach, CA
"We are here on Earth to have fun!"
-15 years old, San Jose,
CA
"Life on this earth is an experience
for each of our souls-so that we can grow in our understanding
of the universe and come to appreciate the greatness of life." -62 years old, Houston, TX
"We're here for a reason. Everyone
has a part on this planet. Once they finish their mission, they
have no reason to live, then eventually die." -17 years old, Irvine, CA
"My philosophy of life is that we
are all here to do something with our lives. We owe it to ourselves
to be the best we can be." -23
years old, Perth Amboy, NJ
"In life, we must somehow figure out
who we are and what our gifts are. Then we must serve people
in full awareness of ourselves by using our gifts creatively
in the process." -19
years old, Los Angeles, CA
"The meaning of life is to get along
with our fellow beings. To value life in all its forms-not just
humans, but also living and non-living things like animals, plants,
plankton, rocks, trees, and even sand." -33 years old, Yakima, WA
"Life is about truth-discovering it,
struggling with it, and living it. The meaning of life seems
to be like a jigsaw puzzle that has been scrambled, and we are
the pieces. Can we look beyond the confusion and find what is
universal, and like moths to flame, return to the source of life?"
-31 years old, Kingston,
RI
"We are here to receive a body so
that we can experience feelings such as pain, sorrow, joy, etc.
We are also here to treat others with respect-to accept people
with all their differences and commonalities. We are more alike
than than we are different." -35
years old, Pomona, CA
"My philosophy on life is to be who
you are and to be that person with pride. No matter what you
do in life, as long as you do it with 110%, you will always accomplish
something." -24 years
old, Dallas, TX
"Life is a time where you experience
everything that God already knows. We are necessary because if
God didn't have us, he would be very, very lonely." -17 years old, Brooklyn, NY
